Elastane is an elastic polyurethane material it is the unbranded name for what is known as Lycra or Spandex . This Fiber is known for its exceptional elasticity.
It is a polyether-polyurea copolymer that was invented in 1958 by the chemist Joseph Shivers at DuPont’s Benger Laboratory in Waynesboro, Virginia USA .
